STRAAT Museum for Street Art and Graffiti

After a few days in Ireland and the U.K. we headed to Amsterdam. I’ve been to Amsterdam a couple of times in the past year, and a favorite stop is the STRAAT Museum in Amsterdam-Noord. We met up with our friend René, who lives in the neighborhood, to show us around a bit. This area is an eclectic mix of traditional homes, industrial sites, a ‘hopping’ food and entertainment scene, and cutting-edge architecture. Noord also has an thriving art and culture community. I’ll have photos from the area mixed in with my upcoming Amsterdam posts, but I have so many photos from STRAAT Museum itself that it gets its own post.

The enormity and detail in so many of the pieces at STRAAT is stunning. There are lots of photos here. Believe it or not, I left out dozens. I hope I’ve captured a sense of what this museum is like, but it must be experienced in person to truly appreciate it. As always, let me know your thoughts or questions, and be sure to sign up for the mailing list on my About page to be notified of new Photo Journal entries!
