Tot Ziens, Amsterdam!

This was the last day in Amsterdam. The weather was a little grey most of the day, but that’s okay. We were all over the city, so these photos are the closest thing to a “photo dump” (I’m not a fan of that term) that you’ll get from me. This is also a most “touristy” post, but hopefully you’ll get a sense of this day in the city.

We started out with an early morning Canal tour. Vincent from Those Dam Boat Guys was our captain/tour guide. He was knowledgeable about the city and its history. I highly recommend a canal tour with this company. After the tour, we stopped in a little café called Vennington. Rashid, the owner, is an exceptionally nice guy and the food was great. This is the place where locals have breakfast, or grab a sandwich. After fueling up, we walked around the city without any particular destination in mind other than a few yarn and stationery shops that Celia wanted to check out. We happened across a neighborhood street/farmer’s market, which is always a great way to meet locals!

As we were walking along a quiet side street, Eerste Leliedwarsstraat, I noticed a striking woman sitting in just the right light. It turns out that she is an artist who was taking a break from her studio/gallery across the street. She invited us in for a look around. While I didn’t get any photos of her work, you can see it on her website at atelierparadis.com.

We did eventually get caught in a downpour near the end of the day while on the way to dinner. We ended up catching an Uber back to the hotel and packing up. Celia headed back to the States the next morning while I caught a flight to Toulouse, France, for the next adventure. Stay tuned and let me know what you think in the comments!
